We believe that every child we help can make a difference in the world. While we cannot solve the problems of Uganda and Africa at large, we believe that it is worth it to save the life and dreams of every child who comes to us for help.

Action Network for the Disabled

Very few children with disabilities have access to basic education, meaning young people with disabilities are less likely to be employed, and more likely to be living in poverty than people without disabilities. We are trying to change this.

Summary

ACFAL has been supporting the less previldged children education for the last seven year through sponsorshiship and providing scholarship for both primary and secondary students. We work in rural communities where there is overwhelming number of children that need our support. We therefore seek your support to provide more scholarships for those in dire need. Our target for this is to provide support to 1000 most vulnerable children education.

Challenge

There are hundreds of children between the ages of 4 to 14 that have been already identified by the project from the poorest of poor families. These do not attend school and those who do desperately need support for extra costs that include school uniform, books, shoes, lunch fees, pens and pencils to remain in school. If not supported these children will remain in the cycle.

Solution

The organisation will sponsor and provide scholarships for more children that have been already identified. Through this support the children will remain in school and be protected from child labour and child marriage. The organisation will also access good medical treatment to ensure they attend school without problems of sickness. Through education, those born into poverty will break this cycle.

Long term- impact.

Education of children will bring about real change not just for that child but for their whole family and giving them the opportunity to change their life permanently for better. More so, children will become agents of change that will impact their communities.
