Women Empowerment in Uganda
We empower girls and women to break the cycle of illiteracy and poverty in their lives, families and community. How?
WHY WE CARE
We envision a community where the girl child and women live up to their full potential as equal and empowered members of society.
Women empowerment can be realized only fighting 4 strong enemies.

I Am Empowered
Each year our programs add to the number of women becoming changemakers in their communities. Support our efforts and materials to ensure I Am A Girl never has to say “no” to a woman seeking economic independence.
Our programs strive to enable women to recognize their self-worth. We want women to utilize economic self-efficacy to gain control over their time, their bodies and to elevate their voices in their communities.

Savings
In our Women's Village Savings Group, each participant sets aside a small amount weekly to put towards the groups efforts.

Financial Literacy
We provide training for financial literacy, and set each group up with a bank account.

Empowerment
At the one year anniversary of each group, all group members are eligible to apply for a loan to start their own business. Funds from the group support the loan, and interest allows for the program to continue to grow.

Skillbuilding
We teach basket weaving, chicken rearing, beekeeping and farming to increase economic opportunity.

Collaboration
We check in with each group weekly to ensure they are meeting their targets and increasing their economic opportunity.
